Ministers fan out to monitor flood situation across the country

The heavy continuous rainfall experienced over the past few days in Guyana have created difficulties and losses for citizens, particularly in Regions Two to Six and to some extent, Region 10. Several ministries have since been monitoring the situation very closely through their respective personnel at the regional level and in the municipality of Georgetown to ensure that necessary interventions are made to bring about relief.

From Tuesday afternoon additional ministry personnel began moving through the regions to collect firsthand information about the flood and to offer guidance where necessary. Following a mandate by President Donald Ramotar, the ministers of government have begun conducting outreaches to the affected areas to meet with the residents.

There has also been round-the-clock monitoring of the drainage sluices as well as regular reports compiled and shared across ministries about the affected areas so as to ensure immediate and collaborative interventions by the ministries.
