Minister Ramsammy in U.S. for medical check-up

AGRICULTURE Minister, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy is currently in the United States (U.S.) undergoing further medical check-up following his recent hospitalisation in Guyana.

This was confirmed Monday by his colleague Minister within the Agriculture Ministry, Mr. Alli Baksh.
Baksh reported that Ramsammy was doing well and is due to return to the country shortly and resume his post at the Ministry.
The former Health Minister was admitted to the Caribbean Heart Institute in the Georgetown Public Hospital last week Tuesday, after collapsing in his office at Regent and Vlissengen Roads in the city.
He was released later that same evening in a satisfactory condition.
Health Minister, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran told this newspaper that Ramsammy was ordered to rest by his cardiologist, Dr. Leonard Carpen who will be monitoring his condition frequently. Ramsaran said Ramsammy has a pre-existing heart condition and, several years ago, had suffered an almost fatal attack and underwent triple bypass surgery overseas.
