The police did not indicate the direction in which the vehicle involved in the accident was headed.

When this newspaper arrived at Gonsalves’s Croal Street home, most of his relatives declined to comment. However, one relative told this newspaper that they received a call at around 13:00h saying that Gonsalves was involved in a serious accident. The relative said that they were told that Gonsalves sustained a broken neck and head injuries.

The man was described by the relative as jovial, a sport fanatic, and hardworking.

Guyana Times International was told that Gonsalves was also a member of the Sonic Hunters Biker’s Club. The man leaves to mourn his three children, aged 23, 22 and 21.

Early Sunday morning, Gonsalves’s friend, Raymond Ally, and his friend Jermaine Frank were both killed after the car in which they were travelling plunged into a canal at Rahaman’s Park, Georgetown, in the vicinity of Banks DIH turn.

Reports reaching this newspaper indicate that, at around 01:15h, the friends were heading to a city nightclub when Ally, who was reportedly driving, lost control of the black car, PJJ 5942, causing it to spin a few times before ending in the canal.

This publication was told that the duo remained submerged for some 30 minutes before public-spirited citizens were able to pull them from the canal.

Their deaths are suspected to have been caused by drowning.
