20-year-old Wesley Morvin Patoir, also called ‘Bucky,’ a mechanic of Kwakwani Park in Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice), was reportedly crushed by a truck in vicinity of the Kurubuku Mines, situated between Aroaima and Kwakwani, on Monday at approximately 15 hours.
While details surrounding the incident remain sketchy, reports reaching this newspaper indicate that Patoir was working with a contractor, and the truck in which he was travelling developed mechanical problems and was stationary at the side of the road. Patoir was attempting to have the problem fixed, and was sitting alongside the vehicle when another truck accidentally rolled over him.
The Police were summoned to the scene, and Patoir’s body was transported to the Kwakwani Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A police investigation has been launched.
