“The most fantastic experience I’ve had in India was at the conduct of the Ganga Aarti on the bank of the Ganges at Haridwar. That was unbelievable. At Mathura, Lord Krishna’s birth place, I grabbed some soil and brought it with me to the USA. Another memorable experience was when Lake Persaud and I attended a typical Hindu wedding in a village called “coolie” in Rajasthan. There was where Amitabbh Bacchan made the movie coolie. The wedding hosts asked me to sing and they enjoyed it immeasurably.” Those were the words of popular Caribbean rock and pop idol Terry Gajraj.

The singer was so enthusiastic about this recent March 2012 Kali Bharat Yatra Tour to India. He plans on returning there soon with his family. Terry also impressed his Indian audiences with his masterful renditions of Holi songs at the Holi Celebration at Raja Park, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Popular radio host, broadcaster, and singer Lake Persaud who served as group leader for the March 2012 Kali Bharat Yatra Tour, in making his second trip to India, says that he was enthralled with the silvery beaches in Goa and the architectural splendor of buildings there. Lake also demonstrated his talent as a singer on a number of occasions during the tour.

Tourists who were on the trip said that Terry was a huge hit with audiences everywhere he performed. People loved his type of singing which is a kind of cultural syncretism (blending and fusion of different cultural elements).

At a farewell function in Mumbai that was hosted by Dilip Sirwani, Kali Bharat Yatra counterpart, Terry Gajraj and Lake Persaud sang alongside Bollywood Music Director Kumar Saxena whose orchestra is named Indian Melody.

The March 2012 tour (Yatrans) visited a number of historic places and monuments such as the Birla Temple, Gandhi Memorial and the Akshardam in Delhi; the Amber Palace in Rajasthan; the birth place of Lord Krishna, Mathura; the place where Lord Krishna grew up, Bindravan; the testament to immortal love, Taj Mahal in Agra; a center of meditation, Rishikesh; the doorway of Lord Shiva, Haridwar; lake Pichola in Udaipur; the Elephanta Caves in Mumbai and Portuguese-influenced Goa. The comments of a number of tourists (Yatrans) reflect the high quality of the tour and the great joy they experienced. .

Ahilia Surujnarine, another Yatran, went with her husband Chaitram Surujnarine, who said that his experience in India was above his expectation. He said; “the arrangement that Kali Travel and Tours had made were flawless; the food and the hotels were simply great. We had a wonderful time; it was indeed a great experience and we all are very thankful to you (Kaliji) and your staff for putting together such a good program. The boys, Sunil, Bhajrang and Yogi are indeed the best you could have; we all love them very much.”
