After a prolonged closure to the Lusignan Golf Course due to the persistent inclement weather, local golfers will be back in action on Saturday in a specially arranged tournament at Lusignan Golf Course.

Club captain of the Lusignan Golf Club, Patrick Prashad, disclosed that following an inspection by the club’s supervisor, the “green light” was given to run off the Medal Play tournament.

“The aim of this tournament is basically to get golfers back in the mood for what is anticipated to be a packed year of golf,” Prashad related to this publication via telephone.

Prashad further stated that most of the regular players are eager to return to the course. Among those expected to take part in the tournament on Saturday are: Brian Gladford, Brian Hackett, William Walker, Mike Mangal, Esan Shamudhudin, Mike Gayadin, Bolaram Deo, Mike Guyadin and Patrick Prashad.

Prizes will be presented to the top three finishers. In addition, there will be a special prize for ‘Nearest to the Pin’. Tee off is at 12:30 hours.

Meanwhile, Prashad disclosed that this year golfers can expect a packed year of golf, since the club has already secured sponsorship for almost each golf tournament for this calendar year. “This year we have a packed calendar of golf with sponsorship on board for almost each event. However, the only predicament would be the inclement weather,” Prashad revealed.

The Harris-Paint sponsored tournament will commence the Lusignan Golf Club 2011 calendar year of activities on January 22.
