Cricket’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) head, Clive Lloyd has written to President Donald Ramotar complaining of the defunct Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) executive’s noncompliance to Chief Justice Ian Chang’s ruling which restrains them from functioning as GCB officials.
Speaking with Guyana Times International Sport yesterday, he said that in his letter he also urged that the head of state assist in bringing a speedy resolution of the current cricket impasse between the two sides. Lloyd’s complaint comes after the WICB earlier this week issued a statement expressing concern at the length of time it is taking for a resolution to be had to the cricket situation in Guyana. Lloyd contended that the situation now is definitely out of control and something has to be done quickly to have it resolved.
“I have decided to write His Excellency, outlining the situation here. The situation now is definitely out of control and something has to be done quickly to have it resolved, you can’t have a group of people served with an injunction and they continue to perform,” Lloyd said.
Currently, the GCB is restrained “from holding themselves out in Guyana as members of the executive committee of the Guyana Cricket Board,” due to an interim injunction granted by acting Chief Justice

Ian Chang on February 24. However, it was learned that the GCB has planned practice matches as part of preparation for the upcoming Caribbean T20 in January 2013.
Guyana’s participation in the January 6-20 tournament in Trinidad and St Lucia was put in doubt after a squad was not selected for the November 22 deadline.
Subsequently, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) directors, following a meeting in Trinidad last weekend, directed the WICB management to make another request to the GCB to provide a Guyana squad and to set a new deadline date for it to be submitted. The new deadline is December 5.
