Let us look to the future, work together in peace

Dear Editor,

The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) wishes to offer our congratulations to the Guyanese people for the peaceful and orderly way in which they exercised their franchise on Election Day.

We further offer our thanks to all those who worked in the various departments, polling stations and in our security forces to ensure the orderly and soothe process that were achieved.

CIOG however appeals to all leaders of the Political parties to communicate the message of peace and calm to their supporters, constituents and in general to the people of Guyana.

As leaders in our country it is imperative we demonstrate the strength of leadership in ensuring that peace and tranquility prevail in Guyana prior to and after the announcement of the election results.

We further request all parties and their leaders to be magnanimous in accepting the final result as announced by GECOM, and advise their supporters accordingly.

Let us all be cognizant that we have to look forward to the future to work together in peace and harmony for the success of our families and our Country.

Acts of violence and intimidation can only serve to create discord and disunity that will be detrimental to the well being of all people in Guyana, our communities and our beloved country.
