Laparkan participating in Americas cargo show, conference

Laparkan Shipping was among hundreds of international logistics providers participating in the Americas Air and Sea Cargo Show and Conference which opened on Wednesday at the Doubletree Hotel and Convention Centre, Miami, U. S. A. Laparkan’s delegation to the show and conference is led by its chairman, Glen Khan and includes Vice Chairman Hussein Haniff and Laparkan Airways Network Manager John Green. Laparkan also has a booth at the exhibition.

Prior to the opening, Khan had described the conference as “an important forum for the cargo industry as it provides an opportunity for the major players in the business to assess current trends in trade and the transport of goods around the world. We will also be looking at issues such as rates, port and airport facilities and the very critical issue of security.”

The show and conference will conclude on November 8, and will provide an opportunity for manufacturers and distributors to discuss their logistics needs, especially as they embark on product and market diversification.

Another aspect of the discussions will be proposed changes to key regulations in various countries and compliance with the new laws and requirements.

Laparkan Airways Network Manager John Green said the event also provides an opportunity for negotiations with other air cargo providers about collaboration arrangements designed to provide cost efficient service to customers.

The show, which was inaugurated in 1991, is held every two years.

Customer Appreciation Day

On Saturday, at a Customer Appreciation Day, persons shipping both personnel effects and commercial air and ocean cargo to the Caribbean for the holiday season will be updated on regulatory requirements of government agencies, both in the U. S. and at the destination.

Saturday’s event, to be held at the company’s office and warehouse at 3750 West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, from 11: 00h to 14: 00h, is one in a series Laparkan is hosting in an effort to educate and inform its customers about requirements, packing tips, sailing schedules and documentation preparation so as to avoid unnecessary delays with customers being able to access their cargo during the busy holiday season.

A similar event will be held on Saturday, October 19 in Brooklyn, New York.

In addition to the provision of shipping information, Laparkan will also be showing its appreciation to customers by handing out shopping bags, water bottles, keychains and other useful giveaways, as well as providing discount coupons for future shipments and offering refreshment.

Informative

A highlight of this Saturday’s event will be an opportunity for customers to get an autographed replica of the cricket ball used by former West Indies world record wicket taker Lance Gibbs, who will be on hand to sign the cricket balls, and to have photographs taken with customers.

“This will be a very festive yet informative event and we invite all our customers to come out and join us as this is also part of the celebration of Laparkan’s 30th anniversary,” said Gibbs, a marketing representative of Laparkan.

Gibbs explained that during the peak season, ports around the Caribbean are quite busy and at times even congested, so it is important that shippers know and understand the requirements and procedures, fill out documentation correctly and ship in a timely manner so as to ensure their cargo reaches its destination when they require it.
