The team’s management includes Deirdre Edghill Assistant Secretary of GTTA, National Coach Linden Johnson, and ITTF Coach Idi Lewis.
The confirmed countries in the competition are St. Maarten, Jamaica, Dominica Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Cuba, and Aruba.
Meanwhile, Godfrey Munroe, General Secretary of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), said yesterday championships will serve as a developmental guide for most of the players since they are in their transition phase to higher levels of competitions.
“This tour is more of a developmental one for most of our players who are in large measure in their transitioning phase given that some of them are new to international competition, while the others are stepping up to new division age groups which would make it much tougher,” stated Munroe.
“However, we see it as the key to their development in the long term. What is crucial is that they will be an international training camp before the championships which allows all the players to play and interact with oneanother which would help to build confidence, self-esteem and give them a true assessment of where they are and the inputs required,” the secretary elaborated.
