Indian-Americans honour Supreme Court Judge Tapia

On March 7, 2013, community leaders recently met and honoured Supreme Court Judge Fernando Tapia.
Judge Tapia in brief remarks of appreciation said that Indian-Americans are hard working, law abiding, highly educated and great citizens of America. The lavish function was held at Ciprianni’s Restaurant in NYC.

In his remarks, Samir Chopra said that Judge Tapia is a highly respected and learned member of the judiciary who has also served the community well.
Samir Chopra, has been recognised as ‘who’s who in America’. He is a former employee of the chief judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Samir is also a marathon runner and triathlete, past recipient of the International Walter Upjohn Award and previously served as Director of the South Asian Bar Association, Trustee of the Hindu Center in New York and Director of the Indian American Committee. He completed his education at Emory University, INSEAD (France) and Harvard. He has been honoured by the United States Senate, United States Congress and all three of the last Governors of the State of New York.
