Incident at Marudi will not deter Guyanese from coming back home

Dear Editor,
Keith Hernandez, of Ontario, Canada, raised a good concern in a previous letter published in the Guyana Times. It was definitely a major disappointment recently to view a video circulating on YouTube that showed the flagrant illegality of some local police officers.
However, it would not deter people from visiting Guyana. More and more, the outside world is beginning to see that any kind of negative story is stretched and politicised by certain groups for their own reasons.
Statistically, more people, not just returning Guyanese, are coming to Guyana. So this police anomaly will not be an impediment and should not be, since it is not widespread.
Rebuking the local police force and casting aspersions on Guyana as a whole are just a vain political move.
I sense no genuine human concern from this frequent visitor. Almost everyone is most unhappy with what took place. It is not the norm and I am sure that corrective and disciplinary measures would be enacted.
Yours sincerely,
Samuel Morris
