The festive season is over, but Guyanese, moreso entertainment groups across the country, are now preparing for Mashramani 2011, which will be celebrated under the theme: “Showcasing Our Culture, Sustaining Our Pride”.

Hits and Jams Entertainment will be launching its “Mash Camp” on January 29 at the Carifesta Sports Complex on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.

Speaking with Guyana Times International, promoter Simeon Francis explained that Mash in Guyana will be “bigger and better”, especially from his group’s perspective. He disclosed that the Mash camp will be launched on January 29, with a massive party. He related that every Saturday, leading up to February 23, there will be live concerts featuring some of the biggest names in soca music, including Destra, Allison Hinds, Patrice Roberts, Machel Montano, Lil-Ric and Swappy. He also highlighted that when someone buys a Hits and Jams’ costume, that person is entitled to free access to all Hits and Jams’ activities for the Mashramani celebration.

Francis also was happy to announce that, on the eve of Mashramani, there will be

Lil-Ric

“J’Ouvert” at the National Stadium, followed by a mega concert on Mash Night, which will include performances from Karma and Trivini bands, and from one of the most hyped performers of all time, whose name he did not disclose. Who could this be? The mystery has people abuzz.

He promised that soca revellers will enjoy the activities “to the max”. “All you have to do is get dressed and be prepared for the “wildest” parties, concerts and, most of all, the float parade on Mash Day”.

Well, party and soca lovers, after the intense activities — the Mash concerts, the J’Ouvert, the mega concert — there must be a “wash down”. This will be done at the Splashmin’s Fun Park and Resort on February 27.

Guyanese, be prepared to partake in the Hits and Jams’ Mashramani activities beginning on January 29.
