High number of exhibitions are evidence of the many good things happening

Dear Editor,

As of recent, we have had a variety of exhibitions in Guyana. Quite a lot of persons made a mockery of them, saying that “everything is an expo nowadays … the whole country on exhibition.” Well, I would like to inform those people and others that the main reason for so many exhibitions in Guyana is because we have seen immense development in arts, construction, tourism and business, among other areas. These expos have enabled entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to showcase their products not only to Guyana, but the rest of the world, especially through the media.

We had the wedding expo, which was very successful. It provided small designers an opportunity to showcase their exquisite wedding gowns and decorations. I have seen remarkable decorations before, but the gowns were overwhelming. There is no one store where I can go and have all those gowns to choose from. So for people like me, it was quite an experience.

Then there was the “Feminition”, which was in honour of women. This expo was the first of its kind in Guyana, and it was well planned and executed. Being an aspiring entrepreneur and a female, I found the event comforting, as it gave women of all walks of life, with various talents and skills, the opportunity to display their creativity.

Also, not so long ago we had the Berbice Expo, which highlighted business opportunities in Berbice. Even though it rained heavily, the expo was a success.

Now we are having the Building Expo which would flaunt the construction industry – the fastest growing industry in the country – which would then be followed by GUYEXPO – the main exhibition of Guyana.

Editor, all these exhibitions are good for the development of the country, and I would not be surprised if a few more emerge, as our country is becoming one of the most-sought-after countries in the Caribbean for tourism and trade.

I would like to commend all the organisers for all the hard work they have done in coordinating those successful exhibitions.

Yours cooperatively,

Roma Khan
