Guyanese man killed and set on fire in Richmond Hill

A Guyanese man, Azeem Ali, 43, in Richmond Hill, was killed in his apartment on 116th Street and 95th. Ave. and then set ablaze in his apartment last Sunday evening. Police have arrested two suspects and charged them with murder and arson.  They are being held without bail.
Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced the indictment of the two men are from Jamaica, Queens. Police said they set the fire to the apartment to cover up the robbery.
District Attorney Brown said, “The defendants are accused of breaking into a man’s home and robbing him before fatally shooting him and attempting to cover up their alleged crimes by intentionally setting fire to his apartment. This case will be vigorously prosecuted to ensure that justice is served.”
The accused men were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court, charged with murder, kidnapping, burglary, arson, and robbery, among other charges. They were held without bail and ordered to return to court on March 14. If convicted, they each face 25 years to life in prison.
