Guyanese have waited long for improved services in the airline industry

Dear Editor,

Please allow me to express my gratitude to the government of Guyana and the management of REDjet for making it possible for a very competitive airline to enter the Guyana market. Consumers need choices, and this airline provides exactly that to ordinary citizens who have always wanted to travel to those small islands and could not have afforded to do so.

Apart from providing low cost air fares and hassle-free travelling for Guyanese, many other Caribbean nationals will now have the opportunity to visit Guyana. Tourism in Guyana has gone a far way in a very short time, and only recently Guyana’s Surama Village and Harrison’s Cave of Barbados jointly copped the coveted Caribbean Excellence in Sustainable Tourism Award. A low-cost airfare will now make it possible to increase the number of tourists coming to Guyana, which in the long- run will contribute to our country’s development.

Also, the fact that this new airline will now be flying the Guyana route will cause others to reduce their air fares and provide a better quality of service to Caribbean nationals. This is very good news for Guyanese, as they have been waiting for improved services in the airline industry for a very long time.

Faithfully,

Martin Roach
