Guyanese football referees called up for international duty

Guyanese football referees have received several appointments as the preliminary matches continue for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Four officials are currently in Canada for the World Cup match between Canada and Puerto Rico.

Stanley Lancaster will be in charge of the crucial Group D match with the assistant referees being Dion Inniss and Venton Mars, while Otis James will serve as the fourth official.

Mark Young is travelling for the Grenada versus St.Vincent and the Grenadines match billed for Friday as the fourth official.

Bahamas-based Dianne Ferreira-James and Nykasie Liverpool will officiate in Havana, Cuba in the Caribbean Football Union Under-20 first round featuring Cuba, Jamaica and St. Lucia from October 19-26.

Ferreira-James, Guyana’s highly decorated female referee has also been appointed to officiate in the Pan American Games to be held from October 14- 30 in Guadalaraja, Mexico.

Meanwhile, referees have been appointed for the Coca Cola League, organised by the East Bank Demerara Football Association.

In matches scheduled for Wednesday October 12, Frank Gulliver, Trevor Porter and Andre Beresford will be in charge of play between Banks DIH and Diamond United at Thirst Park.

In the second game of the double header between Grove Hi Tech and Mocha, Sherwin Moore, Trevor Beckles and Lawrence Drakes will be officiating.

On Friday also at Thirst Park, Otis James, Drakes and Beckles will officiate in the match between Banks DIH and Kuru Kuru Warriors.

Wayne Griffith, Paul Babb and Nykasie Liverpool will be in charge of play in the match between Grove and Diamond United.
