Guyanese diaspora can tune in to 89.5 FM online

Dear Editor,
Radio Guyana Inc (RGI) is the first of several of the new radio licensees going into operation. The station has had its trial run, and its official launch took place a few days ago.
I am upbeat but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Information and music are not out of reach. The Internet is readily available and many gadgets allow users to be privy to almost anything that used to be a radio exclusive.
Most DJs pander to the Jamaica dancehall language and culture. Many also simply go through their personal indulgences. Radio, serious radio, is not only about being popular, it is also about being professional.
The diaspora, as well as online users, can tune into RGI wherever they are, as the station will be streaming live on the Internet via www.radioguyanafm89.com. The station will provide a 24-hour mix of several suitable genres and styles of music. Music can be used to create moods, but people only want that which is suitable to a time and occasion.
Music can be arranged according to styles, eras, genres, themes and artistes. There is also always a place for perky snippets of almost anything in between songs. I really hope that 89.5 FM will lead the way.
With regards,
John Cummings
