Guyana watch team pays courtesy call on Ramotar

A delegation from the New York Guyana Watch Mission has returned for its second humanitarian tour of duty, and in the process, paid a courtesy visit on President Donald Ramotar last Thursday before culminating what they hope would be a successful working visit.

The team, which includes three medical doctors and other support staff is led by Dr Tara Singh, founder of Guyana Watch, which is conducting a similar humanitarian mission in various parts of the country.

The head was accompanied by Dr Mala Shewram, Dr Anila Ramphal, Natalie Phagoo, Randy Jaglal, Samantha Persaud, Shana Persaud, Jean Ramdeo and programme administrator, Holly Persaud.
During the course of their tour which commenced on July 29, the team visited the Sophia Orphanage and Drop-in Centre and the Alpha Home in Berbice, Region Six, providing medical and other forms of support. Their mission culminated on August 5 with a visit to Mahaica.
On its inaugural mission, the delegation staged an informative presentation on suicide and paediatric asthma with staffers of the Georgetown Public Hospital, and donated a laptop and projector to the hospital, and medical and other supplies to various care centres around the country.
