Guyana will be hosting the Second Meeting of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) Commission from October 13 to 14 at the Guyana International Conference Centre, Liliendaal Greater Georgetown.

The CBSI Commission, which comprises representatives of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), the United States, and the Dominican Republic, was established in an effort to foster greater collaboration between the U.S. and Caricom to address crime and crime related issues. It also represents one of the outcome initiatives of the Inaugural Caribbean-U.S. Security Cooperation Dialogue, held in the U.S. in May 2010.

The two-day meeting will commence with an opening ceremony, which will be addressed by Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee. Remarks will also be delivered by United States Ambassador to Guyana D Brent Hardt, Home Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary Angella Johnson, and St Kitts and Nevis National Security Ministry Permanent Secretary Astonia Browne.
