Global Hardware’s pipes get GNBS certification

Global Hardware Incorporated on Friday became the fifth company to be certified by the Product Certification Scheme of the Guyana National Bureau of Standards for its polypropylene pipes. At a short ceremony at the company’s head office, the Bureau of Standards presented a certificate as proof of the company’s compliance with national standards.

Public Relations Officer of the bureau, Lloyd David, explained that Global Hardware is also the third manufacturer of pipes to meet this standard. The other companies registered with Product Certification Scheme are Guyana Thermoplastic Limited (Toolsie Persaud) and Plastic Products Limited (Gafoor), King’s Jewellery World, and Steve’s Jewellery.

Global Hardware Manager, Harjeet Singh Lakha, asserted that the company’s products are the best, and assured that it will continue to meet more standards and be certified under other categories in the future. Technical Adviser and General Coordinator of the Queen’s Atlantic group of Companies, Parmanand Samaroo, explained that the company has been very rigorous in aiming to comply with international standards; and this certification will now boost the marketing capabilities of the company.

David stated that GNBS has been working very closely with companies in order to ensure that they come up to par with specified standards. He encouraged all other companies to come on board the Product Certification Scheme, stating that it guarantees that their products will be ready for international markets.

“Meeting the requirements of the standard and the GNBS Product Certification Scheme has demonstrated commitment and dedication to provide third-party assurance of the quality of pipes manufactured by the company. As such, I would like to encourage the company to continue to meet the requirements of the standard, product certification scheme and customer requirements,” he said. Product Certification Officer of the Bureau Abidin Mohamed explained that the pipes underwent a series of tests before being certified, and explained that the company surpassed all expectations.

He added that certified products would carry a mark which indicates that it was tested and checked by a third party ie GNBS. This mark gives assurance and confidence to the public that the products are of quality, and are meeting recognised standards. Quality products will also have access to international markets, thus providing a positive image of the country enabling these products to compete effectively with other products.

A regular customer of Global Hardware, who was also present at the ceremony, expressed his satisfaction with the products of the company.

He explained that he was contracted to do a project for the Guyana Water Incorporated, and that Global Hardware was recommended to him. He said that this was not the first time he has used the company’s products and he has always found their quality to be very satisfactory.
