GDF officer graduates with honours from U.S. army engineering school

Guyana Defence Force (GDF) officer, Second Lieutenant Trevon McIntosh, has been recognised as the international military student honour graduate after successfully completing an engineering basic officer leadership course at the United States Army Engineer School, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

McIntosh received a certificate of achievement stated that the course provided him with an opportunity to learn more and develop his skills in the area, thereby enhancing his professional development.

“Definitely I will ensure that the training I received benefits the GDF and further, it has lit the fire that fuels my thirst for knowledge and further builds my pride in the organisation I represent,” he said.

McIntosh has been stationed in the GDF’s fourth engineers battalion. The course, which ran for almost five months, was aimed at equipping young officers with the necessary skills to function as engineer platoon leaders.

As such, it touched on leadership fundamentals, doctrine foundations, defensive and offensive operations, general engineering operations and stability operations.
