The Guyana Dart Association will be hosting a two-day trial to select players to represent the country at the Caribbean Championships scheduled for July in Trinidad and Tobago. The trials will be held on February 26 and 29 at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas Land.
According to GDA President, Sheik Yaseen the trials are only for affiliate members and will start promptly at 19:00h and players must make attendance on both days. Yassen expects the trials to be filled with heated competition which is coming hot on the heels of the association’s national championships which were held earlier in February.
At the end of the championships reigning Caribbean single men’s champion Sudesh Fitzgerald was on ‘bulls eye’ by sweeping most of the awards. The left-handed thrower won the singles champion, men’s doubles, most 180’s, highest check out (170 points), most hundreds (76), shortest game (11 Darts) which essentially catapulted him to the most valuable player title.
