Former national boxer Gladwin Dorway sustained stab wounds to his chest following an altercation with a known character at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara on Sunday at about 21:15h.
Guyana Times International understands that the suspect had appeared in the vicinity of Dorway’s home and had hurled several threats at him. A short while after, Dorway left his home but encountered the suspect just one street away, and another confrontation ensued. This newspaper was told that the suspect then whipped out a knife and stabbed the 31-year-old Dorway once to his chest before making good his escape.
Persons in the area came to the former boxer’s assistance, and he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where his condition is listed as critical.
Police investigations are continuing.
