Former Chairman of the Board of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and engineer, Hugh Denbow, was found with his feet and hands bound in an apparent home invasion at his Sophia, Greater Georgetown home.
The 63-year-old man was discovered with his hands and feet bound at his Lot 1 Area D North Sophia, Greater Georgetown, home on Tuesday by a work colleague.
This newspaper was told that Denbow was employed at Orinduik Development Inc. However, after several calls from his employers went unanswered, a report was made to the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost. This newspaper was told that a manager of the company became suspicious since calls to Denbow’s phone went unanswered for three consecutive days. As a result of the report, Police ranks ventured to Denbow’s residence, accompanied by the manager and found the door to the man’s home open.
This newspaper was told that the southern door to the building was open and upon entry, the Policemen found Denbow lying face up in an unconscious state in the kitchen area.
His hands, feet and neck had been tied together. An ambulance was summoned and Denbow was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he later died.
According to a Police source, further checks by Police revealed that the entire house was ransacked but there was no sign of forced entry. The Police source said that it is believed that Denbow was bound sometime between Friday and Saturday.
An investigation has been launched.
