Flat Tire Productions will bring their newest stage show, “Love Bites” to Queens, NY this June 10 and 11.

Some hope for it, others run from it and some get bitten by it: the age-old concept of love. This June 10th and 11th, Flat Tire Productions, a West Indian theatre and film company, makes their comeback with “Love Bites,” a stage show featuring five one-act American plays that tackle love and all its nuances to premiere in Queens, New York.

Founded in 2004, Flat Tire Productions is mostly known for their slapstick West Indian comedy. Audiences around the world fell in love with their comedic web-series, “Liberty Avenue Singles,” and its lead, Sundar (played by the late Frankie Sooknanan).  Flat Tire also earned much acclaim with their last stage production, “Buttahflap: Fresh Baked West Indian Comedy,” which toured five cities in two years (New York City; Schenectady, NY; Richfield, MN; Coconut Creek, FL; and Toronto).

“Love Bites,” however, aims to show that West Indians can play even more versatile roles. With this in mind, directors and veteran Flat Tire actors, Alisha Persaud and Radha Singh, and executive producers Aaron Ishmael and Dinesh Khemraj created “Love Bites.”

“Love Bites is about relationships between different people throughout the stages of romance. It’s very funny and we put our own little spin on it,” said Singh, explaining that audiences will get a taste of both West Indian and American humor.

“I think this is a Broadway caliber show and I hope that is what everyone loves,” said actor Prakash Brahaspat. “I hope ‘Love Bites’ broadens everyone’s horizons.”

Fellow actor Dinesh Khemraj added that he hopes everyone takes something different from each play since each one is diverse in its own respect.

“Drama is for entertainment but also to help us learn about ourselves and each other,” said Persaud.  “So, hopefully when you’re watching one of these five plays you’ll see a little bit of something that seems familiar or resonates with you. Maybe when you go home, it helps you think about life and love.”

“Love Bites” will be performed at P.S. 268 (92-07 175 Street) in Jamaica, New York on Saturday, June 10 at 7:30pm and Sunday, June 11 at 5:30pm. Tickets and discounts are available at flattireproductions.com.
