Fixing leaking faucets and taps

Welcome back! This installment I thought about doing a very popular, simple albeit necessary know how. Guess we can call it a classic fix-leaking and dripping faucets and taps!
More often than not, if it’s not a loose connection, it’s a worn washer…
So onto the replacement of said washer…
Tools you will need:
1.    Adjustable wrench or pipe wrench
2.    Screwdrivers
Steps
1.    Turn off water supply to the tap in question [can be just the valves below ]
2.    Using the wrench, carefully remove the main nut, making sure you hold the tap or faucet so that it does not turn and the nut opens alone
3.    Pull the tap assembly out and remove the washer, this most times is held down by a small screw or nut
4.    Change the washer and fasten it
5.    Reassemble the faucet into position, make sure you re-tighten properly
6.    Turn on the water supply valve again and check for leaks
Remember that you can have leaks at joints also, make sure you check them and if needed, open the joints and put some thread seal or tape if it’s that kind of joint or if it’s a push fit joint, you can glue it back using some PVC cement.
Simple hmm?
