Essequibo mother lands in Court after being accused of arranging sex for underage daughter

A thirty-five-year-old mother and housewife of Bush Lot village, Essequibo Coast was on Wednesday arraigned before Anna Regina Magistrate Esther Sam on two charges of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.
It is alleged that this mother had harboured a male in order that he might have sex with her underage daughter.
Unrepresented by legal counsel, the woman pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to her, and told the court she does not have any money to pay bail.
The Prosecution objected to her being granted bail, but the magistrate overruled the prosecution’s objections and placed the woman on G$150,000 on each count.
The case will be called again on August 23. (Indra Nathram)
