Essequibo and Berbice announce Inter-County U-17 squads

The junior selection panels of the Essequibo and Berbice cricket boards named their respective squads for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) 50 overs Inter- County Under-17 competition, which is scheduled to bowl off on Friday.
Former national Under-15 captain Kemo Paul has been named captain of the Essequibo team while the talented Shimron Hetmeyer will lead the ancient county side. Parmesh Parasotam will serve as Paul’s deputy while Daniel Lewis will be Berbice vice captain.

Essequibo full squad reads: Kemo Paul (Captain), Parmesh Parasotam, Ryan Adams (wk), Travis Drakes, Keano Harry, David Williams, Mahindra Balabdar, Akini Adams, Latchman Dindyal, Newland Cadogan, Kevin Martinborough, Insaaf Dindyal, Nathan Persaud and Miguel Jones. The coach is Andy Ramnarine and the manager is Nazeer Mohamed.
Berbice full squad reads: Shimron Hetmeyer (Captain), Balchand Baldeo, Leon Andrews, Brandon Persaud, Deon Esau, Adrian Singh, Parmanand Ramdhan, Ritesh Omroa, Daniel Lewis, Jason Anderson, Narendra Permaul, Suraj Dookhana, Kassim Khan, Grisean Grant and Kevindra Persaud. The coach is Leslie Solomon while Andrea Percival will serve as manager.
On Friday, Essequibo will play Demerara in the opening round at the Everest Cricket Club, ground. Round two will be played on Saturday between Berbice and Essequibo at Everest Cricket Club ground or the Georgetown Cricket Club ground.
The final round will see Berbice playing Demerara at the Everest Cricket Club, ground on Sunday.
The tournament will be used as a benchmark for the national junior selectors in order to select a national Under-17 team for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) regional tournament scheduled to be played from June 29 to July 8 in Trinidad and Tobago.
Jamaica are the defending champions after winning the inaugural tournament last year and will be looking to defend their title against Barbados, Guyana, Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and Windward Islands.
