Emmy Award winning “A Taste of History” to be filmed in Guyana

Famous United States chef Walter Staib will be in Guyana this week to film his three time Emmy Award winning culinary show “A Taste of History”. The famous chef who arrived in Guyana last Saturday will display his gastronomic skills at a charity dinner hosted by the DDL Foundation on this evening at the Pegasus Hotel.

At the dinner, the world’s best rum “El Dorado” would be used in the creation of special dishes that will be paired with spectacular El Dorado cocktails. All proceeds from the dinner would go to the Demerara Distillers Limited Foundation.

While here, Chef Staib will also film his show which will feature the food and drink cultures in Guyana and would look at the cultural and historical evolution of cooking and rum production.

Staib’s list of accolades includes appearances on The Food Network 2011 and the Iron Chef Competition.

“A Taste of History” is recorded in significant historic locations; from Jefferson’s Monticello to Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse town and even on the banks of the Delaware River at Washington’s Crossing.

In each episode, Chef Staib explores the origin of featured recipes and ingredients to reveal historical context. The show is now in its third season.
