According to reports, the fire broke out sometime between 04:40h and 06:10h, causing severe internal damage to the Lot 25 Half Mile, Wismar home which is owned by 53-year-old David Anthony and his wife Ronique Anthony.
Guyana Times International understands that the couple was at work at an interior location at the time of the incident, however, their teenage children were asleep inside the house.
The children recalled being awakened by the smell of smoke sometime after 04:00h as they observed the front bedroom situated on the eastern side of the three-bedroom flat concrete structure engulfed in flames. They reportedly then exited the house and raised an alarm.
The Linden Fire Station responded and managed to contain and extinguish the fire which by that time had already engulfed the entire home.
The couple has estimated their losses within the millions as nothing was saved during the course of the incident. An investigation has since been launched by the Linden Fire Department.
