Driver critical, 12 others injured in head-on collision between minibus and car

IMG_20160609_083604The driver of a hire car, HC 407, is said to be in a critical condition at the West Demerara Regional Hospital after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a minibus (BPP 700)  in the vicinity of La Union, West Coast Demerara. The accident occurred shortly after 6:00 hrs on Thursday morning.

The hire car driver and two persons in his vehicle at the time of the accident are said to be seriously injured. The minibus driver, on the other hand, escaped with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, about 10 passengers in the minibus had to seek medical attention for various injuries.

IMG_20160609_083756Eyewitnesses told this publication at the accident scene that the car was heading in the direction of Parika, while the minibus was heading for Georgetown when they collided at La Union village. Traffic ranks from the Vreed-en-Hoop Police station were at the scene carrying out investigations.
