A six-foot dolphin was on Tuesday night spotted at the Better Success Foreshore at approximately 20:00h. The dolphin was brought to the shore by fishermen who placed it on display.
A huge crowd gathered from neighbouring communities to see the mammal.
When Guyana Times International arrived at the Better Success Foreshore, the animal seemed to be in distress.
Fishermen in an effort to keep the dolphin comfortable threw water on its back regularly.
The dolphin, said to be approximately 100 pounds, was pushed back into the ocean by a group of four young men, who were subsequently joined by villagers who wanted the animal to return to its natural environment.
After being released the dolphin swam away, sprouting water, as children and other onlookers bid it farewell.
