First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, on Tuesday, received over 200 pairs of shoes, from the Crown Heights Lions Club of New York, USA and other donors, who were eager to contribute to her ‘Shoes that Grow’ initiative. Caribbean Airlines shipped the shoes to Guyana from the USA free of cost as part of their efforts to support the initiative.
“Now that I have received this, I can now start distributing them to our children and I know that the children love them and appreciate them because I understand that this is a style that is very popular with the kids,” the First Lady was quoted as saying by the Ministry of the Presidency, during the simple handing over ceremony held in the Baridi Benab at Sate House in Georgetown.
Caribbean Airlines, Head of Corporate Communications, Ms. Dionne Ligoure; Sales Executive, Guyana-Suriname, Mr. Dion Inniss and Ticket Office Supervisor, Ms. Stephanie Greene also attended the presentation ceremony.
