Courts Guyana Inc on Wednesday celebrated its 20th anniversary in Guyana, crediting much of its success to the many loyal customers over the years. Managing Director Clyde De Haas said the furniture giant has always been grateful for the welcome that it has received from the Guyanese population and will continue to make sure that its customers are always its top priority.
The celebrations included grand giveaways of cash and other prizes to customers who have shopped and will be shopping on the day of the birth anniversary as well as throughout the weekend.
Also speaking with this newspaper was Operations Director Laverne Bakker, who emphasised that during this period, the company will be giving away more offers to persons who will be shopping at the centre and have been loyal customers.
The celebration was held at the company’s Main Street head office in Georgetown.
“As one of the prominent furniture and household appliances retailers in Guyana, we want to give back to Guyanese and we have offers running, that if you shop Gy$ 200,000 and over, you will have the chance to use your smartphone and play the flash game only at the Main Street branch,” said Bakker.
Opened on Sunday
She noted that the store will also be open on Sunday to facilitate the 20th anniversary celebrations.
Guyana Times International understands that six loyal customers: Roypen Mootain, Sajjid Islam, Verian Forte, Enid Payne, Rajdai Churaman and Carmen Rambaran were awarded with over one million dollars in cash and prizes.
Some customers at the anniversary celebrations said Courts has become a household name. “I purchase almost all my furniture and appliances from here, especially with the hire purchase, it makes it easier and affordable,” one customer, who gave her name only as Singh said.
Another customer, Doreen Ali, emphasised that the company has been good to the Guyanese population.
“I am glad that they are investing in Guyana and continue to aid in our country’s development, with all the offers and deals, it makes life a lot easier for the working class people to afford the comforts of life.”
The Courts chain remains the largest furniture retailer in Guyana and falls under the Unicomer brand, which is one of the largest retailers in the Caribbean.
