The West Ruimveldt, Georgetown woman who was on Saturday last intercepted at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle with cocaine stashed in her suitcase was on Tuesday remanded to prison.
Twenty-two-year-old Shareefa Tappin denied the offence when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
It is alleged that the cosmetologist on June 6, 2018 at Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD), had in her possession 6.99 kilograms of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The prosecution’s case stated that the defendant was an outgoing passenger on a Liat flight when her luggage was searched by Customs officers and the drug was found.
Tappin was remanded to prison, and was expected to return June 19, 2018 at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
