Cops hunting suspected mastermind of carjacking ring in Guyana

Police say they are seeking a Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown resident who they suspect to be the mastermind behind the recent strings of carjacking busts along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, among other places.

According to the police, investigators on Wednesday night swooped down on the suspected mastermind’s premises and conducted a search during which, the ranks found a black Mazda Axela motorcar with licence number PTT 2794, along with twelve certificates of registration for various vehicles including some that were seized from the home of the ex-policeman who is currently in custody.
Moreover, the police said that a 52-year-old female was found at the residence and has since been taken into custody.
The woman’s name was reportedly found on two of the seized vehicles’ registration.
Investigations are ongoing.
So far 15 persons have been arrested as the Guyana Police Force makes inroads to clamp down on the theft of vehicles suspected to be stolen or illegally obtained.
