Chinese New year Greetings from H.E. Ambassador Cui Jianchun

The 2019 Chinese New Year is the year of the pig. It symbolizes wealth and good luck. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Guyana, I wish everyone a Happy New Year along with good health, prosperity, a happy family and all the best in the New Year.
The Chinese New Year, as the most important traditional festival in China, is part and parcel of the Chinese culture. Today, the Chinese New Year is celebrated by more and more people around the world, turning into a global event.
The year 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up. China has been impressing the world with remarkable achievements which have brought tremendous benefits to its people, as well as contributed to the sustainable development of the world economy.
The year of 2018 witnessed the continuous development of China-Guyana friendly cooperative relations with frequent high-level visits. It has also been a productive year for the cooperation in economy, trade, health and many other areas. Our people-to-people and cultural exchanges have been flourishing, bringing the two peoples closer to each other.
2019 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and also a crucial year to secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and to realize the first centenary goal of China. 2019 is also an important year for Guyana to push forward its national development, economic diversification and improving people’s livelihood.
There are great potentials and broad prospects for cooperation between our two countries. We stand ready to work with Guyana to further enhance our friendship and broaden our practical cooperation. I believe that with the concerted efforts of our two governments and peoples, we can bring our friendly cooperative relationship to a higher level.
