The incident occurred at approximately 02:30h at Lumumba’s Kiskadee Drive, Meadow Brook residence.

According to police spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker, the devices struck the bottom western wall of the home, resulting in a small fire that scorched the wall which was extinguished by the security guard on duty. According to information received, there was not much damage.

In an invited comment, Lumumba described the incident as “highly politically motivated”. He said politicians have to come to the realisation that every citizen has a right to support any political party of their preference. Lumumba also noted that “this sort of behaviour is a norm around elections time. It is because I am an ardent supporter of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic that I am being attacked,” he added.

He noted that he was asleep when the attack was carried out, but his guard promptly alerted him. Lumumba disclosed that he suspects a few persons and had so informed the police.
