Celeste David, born in the ancient county of Berbice on October 30, 1986, started singing from the tender age of four in her church. Celeste obtained early exposure to the stage, doing her first concert as early as five years old. Plying her trade at almost every conceivable opportunity, Celeste became a regular feature at school concerts, community gatherings and other forums that included weddings and funerals. Thanks to Whitney Houston and at a later date Lauryn Hill, two strong influences in her career, a definite singing style, poise and confidence exuded from this young songstress. Songwriting, dancing, modelling and even designing have made her a versatile artiste. Her hits included ‘Back It Up’, ‘Had Enough’, ‘Keep it Real’ and ‘Ma Sweetness’. Celeste is rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with, and was even touted by some to be the “hottest find” in a vastly improved and competitive local music industry. With a fast growing repertoire as an artiste capable of singing reggae/dancehall, R&B, soca, crossover music, gospel and even jazz, Celeste has secured a recording title with Monstapiece Entertainment Inc out of Barbados. With Monstapiece, she has produced ‘Little Secret’ and ‘Independent’. Baby Cham and Robert Hatcher From ‘America’s Got Talent’ were left speechless when Celeste flawlessly accompanied them both on different occasions by doing Alicia Keys’ part in ‘Ghetto Story Remix’ and ‘Closer I get to you’ at both of their shows in Guyana. With these accomplishments, Celeste has become one of Guyana’s most talented artistes.
