The owner of the popular nightspot, Kosmos Bar and Grill, along with his Senior Police Officer friend, are now dead following a horrific accident at Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown. A mason who admitted to robbing several passengers on a Route 47 (Back Road, East and West Ruimveldt route) minibus was on Tuesday jailed for six months when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. As Guyana continues to grapple with high rates of domestic violence in various forms, a United Nations (UN) women-supported research found one in every five women in the country, or 20 per cent, have been sexually abused in their lifetime.
