Gifted Albion Cricket Club, Berbice and National U-17 left arm spinner and lower order batsman Kelvin Umrao is the latest young Berbice cricketer to receive sponsorship from Guyanese living in New York.
The career of Umrao, like other young promising cricketers from Berbice, is being closely followed by a group of Guyanese living in the State of New York, USA and in response to his rapid progress and discipline; he was presented with a bag of cricket gears to assist with his further development.
The gears consist of one cricket bag, one New Balance bowling boots, one Nike batting boots, one thigh pad, one CA bat, one elbow guard, bat rubbers and other cricket related items.
The sponsorship was provided by: Chin Singh, David Sookrah, Ramo Singh, Chris Ganesh, Brodo Kunjal, Mukesh Matai, Goordial Matai, Valdat, Buddy Permaul, Katch, Pampo Karan, Wally Bascom, Devan Ramlall, Shan and Dowlatram.
The sponsors wished Umrao well in his future and revealed that it is their hope that this gesture can motivate others to do the same. They promised to continue to make significant contributions to young cricketers based on the recommendations.
