The Berbice Bridge Company Inc (BBCI) has completed five years of continuous and reliable service to the people of Guyana, and in observance of the occasion, it has honoured several long-serving and outstanding employees.

The bridge in a release said the achievement is due to the commitment and dedication of its employees, coupled with timely maintenance of its assets to international standards, not forgetting the excellent customer service it provides.

On December 20, 2013, the company honoured its long-serving employees with plaques in appreciation for years of service. Among them were BBCI Chairman Keith Evelyn and BBCI Chief Executive Officer Omadat Samaroo. Twelve other employees have completed five years of continuous employment.

In addition, the company has recognised Administrative Assistant Bibi F Alli for her outstanding dedication and contributions, such as, participating in all the company activities, always willing to work beyond the normal call of duty and being extremely focused and devoted to her job.

At the ceremony, Evelyn thanked the staff for their contributions over the years towards the BBCI and encouraged them to continue to strive for excellence.

The Berbice Bridge Company Inc (BBCI) not only plays the role of collecting tolls and facilitating vehicles crossing the Berbice River Bridge and vessels transiting through the retractor opening and under the high span, but also discharges its corporate responsibilities and more importantly plays an integral part in the development of education and sports.

It has also supported national events and made donations to charitable and non-charitable organisations in proximity of the bridge or in Regions Five and Six. The company had also sponsored events in other counties and as far as the hinterland.

“On behalf of the board of directors, management and staff of BBCI, we would like to wish our employees, customers and the people of Guyana a productive 2014. It was a pleasure serving you in 2013 and we are looking forward for your business in 2014,” the release concluded.
