Bandhoo’s reputed wife reportedly pestered him to return to the United States

Relatives of Naresh Bandhoo of Edinburgh Village, East Bank Berbice have been plunged into mourning after hearing that he allegedly murdered his reputed wife then hanged himself.

The dead man’s father Chatterpaul Bandhoo, 61, of lot 13 Edinburgh Village disclosed that around 18:30h on Thursday, February 23, he was informed via a phone call that his son Naresh, killed his reputed wife Rafeena Bibi Rahaman then took his life in New York.

The elder Bandhoo said his son had visited last July and spent one month, however during that time there was ongoing friction between him and his reputed wife Rahaman. The grieving father said that from what he observed, he feels the couple may have been experiencing problems because his son’s three children were left behind in Guyana.

He explained that both parties had children from previous unions, and it is his opinion that Rahaman was not pleased with his son financially supporting his three teenage daughters. “He said he ain’t going back [to US] because he and the lady na get along… but she a phone he and a cry… he said mom and dad a going back… a going collect me ticket and tomorrow me a fly… yea he said he na go back but she calling he whole time…”

His three daughters Nickita, 19, Cynthia, 17, and Kesha, 14, and their mother Seeta, were shattered on hearing the sad news.

Nickita told Guyana Times International that her father was a construction worker in New York and since he returned last year, the situation between him and her step mom escalated. She said that on one occasion she put him out in the snow and he had to seek shelter at a friend.

She disclosed that the news reaching them is that her father reportedly armed himself with a long knife and stabbed her step mom to death outside in the yard of their apartment, then proceeded to hang himself.

Bandhoo was the eldest and only son of his parents. His three sisters Nalini, Sumin and Simi are trying their best to console their grieving parents and nieces following the tragedy.

This publication understands that Bandhoo and Rahaman shared a three-year relationship which did not yield any children, but Bibi also has three children from a previous union.

Bandhoo’s mourning relatives said Rahaman hails from Skeldon.
