An autopsy conducted on the bodies of 23-year-old Kevin Singh and his girlfriend, 25-year-old Subrina Nandram who were found in a bathtub at Aracari Resort has revealed that the woman was murdered and Singh committed suicide.
The post-mortem examination was conducted by Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh on Wednesday.
Dr Singh gave Nandram’s cause of death as asphyxiation (suffocation) owing to manual strangulation compounded by blunt trauma to the head. The autopsy results for the young woman’s boyfriend showed that he died from asphyxiation caused by drowning, compounded by ingestion of pesticide.
Nandram, a mother of two who resided at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), and her boyfriend, of Triumph, ECD, were found dead about 18:00h by staff of the resort on Sunday.
Reports are the lovers checked into the resort on Saturday just after lunch and were due to check out at 12:00h on Sunday, but Singh extended their stay.
On Sunday, the hotel staff attempted to make contact with the couple, but calls to their room went unanswered.
After some time had passed, the staff attempted to contact the couple for a second time, but no one answered the call. The staff, suspecting that something was amiss, proceeded to check the couple’s room and made the gruesome discovery.
The dead woman’s mother, Sabita Singh had strongly doubted that her daughter would commit suicide, since Nandram seemed happy with her relationship with Singh.
Meanwhile, Kuntie Tekchand, the mother of Singh, recently told Guyana Times that the young man left their home on Saturday, but there was no indication that something was amiss. According to the distraught mother, she did not know much about her son’s girlfriend.
