Elton ‘Coolie Bully’ Dharry and Clive ‘The Punisher’ Atwell earned second and third round knockout victories respectively on Friday evening when Hurry Up Promotions in partnership with Elton Dharry and Pearl Vodka staged the ‘Night of Champions’ boxing card at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Also in winner’s row were Gladwin Dorway, who stopped an ordinary Shawn Pile in round two; Mark Austin, who got the better of Troy Lewis; and James Walcott, who ensured Kelsie George remained without a win after six professional fights.
In the feature contest, Atwell maintained his unbeaten record with a knockout two minutes, 25 seconds into round three. The knockout came after Atwell peppered his opponent with several combinations, which he failed to respond to, forcing referee Eion Jardine to wave off the contest.
With the win, Atwell pushed his record to 9-0 with five knockouts, while Lake dropped to 6-8-2. The victory ensured Atwell retained his national lightweight title.
In the main supporting clash, Dharry wasted little time in disposing of a dreadlocked Ricardo Blackman of Barbados, who found the ‘Coolie Bully’ too good for his liking.
