Americans Allyson Felix and Sanya Richards Ross excelled

Dear Editor,
Americans Allyson Felix ( 200m winner) and Sanya Richards Ross (400m winner) were two of the Olympians I followed for some time now and am elated to the highest in witnessing their victories in their respective pet events at the just concluded 2012 London Olympic Games.
Brilliant performances were showcased by winners and non medal winners. One’s effort must at all times be commended. A few golden moments were to witness the very first woman from Saudi Arabia (muslim) competing in the 800m at the Olympic Games, a double amputee from South Africa in the 400m, three athletes without a country marching under the International Olympic Committee (IOC) flag and world junior athletes making it to the podium.
Also, the accomplishment of the men’s 400m event by Kirani James (Grenada) who at only 19 has already won the world youth and junior titles, world champion and now Olympic champion.
I take this moment to extend my gratitude to the entire Guyanese contingent who made representation on behalf of The Golden Arrowhead and hope they would have embraced the experience and use it to continue growing healthy in whichever manner they choose to.
Aliann Pompey would have represented Guyana to the best of her potentials over the years and as she bows out of competition, I hope Guyana will showcase it’s gratitude to this accomplished daughter of the soil.
Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
