All set for Wedding Expo this weekend

All systems are in place for the hosting of Wedding Expo 2013 in Guyana, which will see a number of new exhibitors on board and the much anticipated live wedding ceremony that will be featured for the first time. This year’s Wedding Expo will see more small businesses on board showcasing what they have to offer for wedding events. According to Diedre Davis, who is one of the coordinators of the event, some 30 exhibitors have registered, while 44 booths will be on display.
Roraima Group of Companies Managing Director, Captain Gerry Gouveia said the event has grown tremendously since its inception five years ago.

The main attraction will be on Saturday evening, when a real wedding will be hosted for the public to witness.
“We had 15 applicants who applied for the Wedding Expo to host their wedding and we were able to shortlist that down to one.
“The reception is going to be held upstairs at the Victoria Hall, the reception is going to be closed to the bride and groom and their families. The actually wedding ceremony will be a public event.”
He added that the wedding is sponsored in total by Roraima Airways and other Wedding Expo exhibitors, who will be providing their attire, rings, cake, honeymoon trip, among other things. He pointed out that while this is a major giveaway, there will still be prizes up for grabs for patrons at the event, including trips to Kaieteur Falls and Arrow Point.
Meanwhile, Gouveia noted that a specific budget has not been outlined for the hosting of the event as yet.
“Roraima has basically been subsidising Wedding Expo for a longtime to help Wedding Expo move along and help small businesses… so I don’t want to give you a figure as yet”.
He posited that the event has over the years promoted small businesses.
“Karen cake for example moved from a little one table cake to something massive… we have people who do makeup too.”
Wedding Expo 2013 will be held at the Duke Lodge from April 5 to 7 and admission fee is Gy$ 500. The opening ceremony will get underway on Friday from 17: 00h.
