Alka Yagnik concert on for May 5 at Guyana’s National Stadium

Many thought that due to the passing of the late Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha President, Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud, the mega concert featuring renowned Bollywood playback singers Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan would have been cancelled, but preparations are moving apace for the mega event.
The concert is set for Sunday, May 5, at the Guyana National Stadium at 19:00h.
The two singers have indicated their interest to perform in Guyana for the first time on the historic occasion of the 175th anniversary of Indian arrival in Guyana.
The playback singers are expected to be accompanied by a full band of musicians out of Mumbai and have been working on putting together a special collection of the songs to thrill their fans.
All proceeds of the concert will go towards the construction of the Sabha’s children’s shelter ‘BalNivas’ in Ankerville, Berbice.
Construction began in February and is expected to be completed by year-end.
Last year, President Donald Ramotar and leading Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam unveiled the design of the building.
