Alana Seebarran sues Rambalak sisters for Gy$50M

Guyana Times International has learnt that Miss India Worldwide 2012 Alana Seebarran has filed a Gy$50 million lawsuit against the holder of the Miss India Worldwide Guyana franchise, Chandini Ramnarine and her sister, who was selected to be Miss India Guyana 2010, Lucria Rambalak.

In papers obtained from the Supreme Court Registry, Georgetown, Seebarran is alleging that Ramnarine failed to discharge contractual and fiduciary duties owed to her; the claim against Rambalak is for impersonation and “passing off”.
When contacted, counsels for Seebarran – Sanjeev Datadin and Charles S Ramson – said that the claim against Rambalak is premised on a video in worldwide circulation on YouTube and it speaks for itself. Asked whether the YouTube video was a clear case of a deliberate impersonation by Rambalak, they only said, “Those are your words”, but added that the impersonation did much to harm the goodwill and reputation of their client.
Datadin said that Ramnarine did not discharge the contractual and fiduciary duties she owed to his client. He said Ramnarine was obliged to act in the best interests of his client, but had failed to discharge these obligations.
When asked if this newspaper could speak to his client, Ramson said that litigants ought not to speak to the press about matters which were pending in court, since this was contempt which would likely result in both the litigant and the publisher of the offending publication being punished.

Seebarran was not in Malaysia to crown her successor, and reports in the local media had clearly indicated that all was not well within the Miss India Worldwide pageant.
